The Boeing P-26 was the first American all-metal production fighter aircraft and was the first
pursuit monoplane used by the United States Army Air Corps. Designed and built by Boeing,
the prototype first flew in 1932 and became one of the front line fighters used by the USAAC
between 1933 – 1938. Notably, the P-26A was still in use with the U.S. Army Air Corps as late as 1941 in the Philippines.
The diminutive "Peashooter" — as it became affectionately known by service pilots, was faster
than previous American combat aircraft with a maximum speed of 203 Knots. The anachronism
design with wire-braced wings, fixed landing gear and open cockpit represented a stark
contrast to the European fighters of the era.
Scale enthusiasts will love the stainless steel rigging wires, gorgeously detail Pratt & Whitney
dummy engine, panel lines and scale cockpit, while the bright colors faithfully represents
the USAAC paint schemes of the time. The airframe is constructed from durable EPO foam and
offers great flight performance for a model of its size. Build time is kept to a minimum with
clever features such as a bolt on wing and tails. With the servos, ESC and motor all being fitted
by the factory, all you will need to do is install your own receiver and battery to have your
Peashooter in the air in no time. The Scale rigging wires are easily removable for transport and
there is plenty of power from the pre-fitted outrunner motor. Classic aerobatics like stall turns
& barrel rolls are a hoot, yet the P26A is just as happy flying at scale speed.
